On April 6,2022. Australian Government has published Consumer Goods (Button/Coin Batteries) Amendment Safety Standard 2022. This Standard shall amend Consumer Goods (Button/Coin Batteries) Safety Standard 2020. It shall already enter into force.

The following are the summary of the amendments:

1. Revise the definition of non-lithium button/coin battery, as follow:
• a diameter of 16 mm or greater; and
• a diameter greater than the battery’s height.
2. Revise the definition of hearing aids.*
3. The requirements of Annex E IEC 60086‑4: 2019 are newly added in child accessibility.
4. Other minor amendment to blister packaging.

*: This amendment shall be included in Consumer Goods (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Amendment Safety Standard 2022, which amend Consumer Goods (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Safety Standard 2020.
