The Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has signed Bill H.4900 into law to restrict the flame retardant content in certain consumer products. The restriction shall apply to covered products that are manufactured on or after 1 January 2022.The new law shall apply to:

Any component of a covered product shall not contain any of the following flame retardants which exceeds 1000 ppm by weight.

A manufacturer of a covered product that contains a restricted chemical flame retardant shall provide notice to retailers and other persons that sell covered products in the Commonwealth of the passage of the law on or before 1 July 2021.
