Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision recently launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for 37 batches of suits and coats, sold in Shanghai city and produced by the main manufacturers of Shanghai. The results found 2 batches of unqualified products, which were both produced by Shanghai manufacturers.

This spot check was conducted according to the national mandatory standards GB 18401-2003 "National General Safety Technical Code for Textile Products", GB 5296.4-1998 "Instructions for Use of Products of consumer Interest–Instructions for Use of Textiles and Apparel", FZ/T 01053-2007 "Textile-Identification of Fiber Content", as well as the product standards GB/T 2664-2009 "Men’s Suits And Coats", GB/T 2665-2009 "Women’s Suits And Coats". The key items checked and inspected were fiber content, formaldehyde, pH value, colourfastness to dry rubbing, colourfastness to water, colourfastness to perspiration, banned Azo dyestuffs, pilling test, colourfastness to drycleaning, and bonding strength of adhesive interlining.

Failed Item in the Spot Check:
Fiber content: fiber content labeling is the most direct way of conveying the raw material composition to the consumers. There were 2 batches in the inspection that failed this item with testing results didn’t match the product labels.
