Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision recently launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for 58 batches of casual wear that was produced and sold in Shanghai city and represented the main manufacturers of Shanghai. The inspection found a total of 10 batches of unqualified products, 8 of which were produced by Shanghai manufacturers.
        
This spot check was conducted according to the national mandatory standard GB 18401-2003 "National General Safety Technical Code for Textile Products", GB 18401-2010 "National General Safety Technical Code for Textile Products", GB 5296.4-1998 "Instructions for Use of Products of consumer Interest--Instructions for Use of Textiles and Apparel" as well as the product standards (such as GB/T 2664-2009 "Men’s Suits And Coats", GB/T 2665-2009 "Women’s Suits And Coats", GB/T 2666-2009 "Women and Men’s Trousers", GB/T 22849-2009 "Knitted T-shirt", GB/T 22853-2009 "Knitted Sportswear", GB/T 18132-2008 "Silk Garments", FZ/T 43015-2001 "Silk Knitting Garments",  FZ/T 73005-2002 "Low Wool Content And Wool Like Knitting Goods", FZ/T 73010-2008 "Knitted Workmanship Sweater", FZ/T 73018-2002 "Wool Knitting Goods", FZ/T 73020-2004 "Knitted Casual Wear", FZ/T 73026-2006 "Knitted Skirt Suit", FZ/T 81004-2003 "Skirts And Skirts Suit", FZ/T 81006-2007 "Jeanswear", FZ/T 81007-2003 "Casual Wear", FZ/T 81008-2004 "Jackets", FZ/T 81010-2009 "All-Weather Coats"). The key items inspected on these products are care instruction, fiber content, formaldehyde, pH value, colourfastness to dry rubbing, colourfastness to perspiration, colourfastness to water, banned Azo dyestuffs and odor test.

The spot check found that the main failure of the products were fiber content (9 batches failed), colourfastness to water, rubbing and perspiration (1 batch of each failed).
