The Challenge
Until recently, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) supply chain security specialists were not conducting on-site C-TPAT security verifications in China. In some instances, this resulted in a more limited visibility of supply chain security practices in China and a greater likelihood that products coming from China would be delayed at the border for increased scrutiny.
This changed in 2011 when China’s General Administration of Customs consented to CBP officers auditing the supply chain security practices of 100 manufacturers or logistics providers exporting goods to the United States.
