Shanghai
Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision announced the results of its quality supervision and inspection of infant’s clothing in Shanghai. This spot check inspected 93 batches of sample, and 17 batches were found to be unqualified.

In these 93 batches, 70 batches were produced by local enterprise and 11 batches were found to be unqualified. 23 batches were produced by other provinces and 6 batches were found to be unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to ”GB 5296.4-1998 Instructions for use of products of consumer interest Instructions for use of textiles and apparel”, "GB 18401-2010 National general safety technical code for textile products", "GB 18401-2003 National general safety technical code for textile products", “FZ/T 01053 Textile-Identification of fiber content”, “GB/T 23328-2009 Woven garments for students”, “GB/T 22854-2009 Knitted school uniform”, "FZ/T 73025-2006 Knitted garment and adornment for infant", "FZ/T 81003-2003 Children’s clothing and student’s wear", "FZ/T 81014-2008 Infant’s wear" etc.. The key items inspected on these products are care instruction, fiber content, formaldehyde content, pH value, colorfastness to dry rubbing, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to water, banned AZO dyestuff, odour, colorfastness to saliva, extractable heavy metal, seam slippage and needle inspection.

The primary reasons for failure were fiber content, pH value, colorfastness to perspiration, and care instruction.

Guangzhou
Recently, the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision announced the results of its quality supervision and inspection of children’s and infant’s clothing in Guangzhou. This spot check inspected 72 batches of sample produced by 37 enterprises, and 10 batches produced by 8 enterprises were found to be unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to ”GB 5296.4 Instructions for use of products of consumer interest Instructions for use of textiles and apparel”, "GB 18401 National general safety technical code for textile products", etc.. The key items inspected on these products are banned AZO dyestuff, formaldehyde content, pH value, fiber content, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to dry rubbing, colorfastness to wash, colorfastness to saliva, seam slippage and label.

The primary reasons for failure were banned AZO dyestuff, formaldehyde content, fiber content, pH value and label.

Shenzhen
In the first half of 2012, Market Supervision Administration of Shenzhen Municipality inspected infant’s clothing in Shenzhen market, as the result, 2 batches of sample were found to be unqualified.

This spot check inspected 43 batches of sample produced by 16 enterprises. According to "GB 18401 National general safety technical code for textile products", "GB/T 2912.1 Textiles-Determination of formaldehyde-Part 1: Free and hydrolyzed formaldehyde(water extraction method)", "GB/T 3920 Textile-Test for colour fastness-Colour fastness to rubbing", etc., the key items inspected on these products are formaldehyde content, pH value, banned AZO dyestuff, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to dry rubbing and colorfastness to saliva.

The primary reasons for failure were pH value and colorfastness to saliva.
